How to Install Brushes in Adobe Photoshop CS5

     AWESOME!! You just downloaded some awesome free photoshop brushes for your latest project! Now what the hell do you do with this “.abr” file?! If you’re asking yourself this question…read on :) I will explain!

  1. Put the .abr file you’ve downloaded into this folder ->
    (WindowsC:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop\Presets\Brushes 
    (Mac/Users/{username}/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS5/Presets/Brushes
  2. Open up Adobe Photoshop, hit the key “B” to make the brush tool active. Now go to option palette and click on to open the brush preset picker.
  3. Then click on the small triangle in the upper right corner:
  4. A list will appear. Click on ‘Load Brushes’
  5. In the dialog box choose the “.abr” file that you just downloaded and click “Load”. Your new brushes will then appear in the Brush palette (hit “B” to make the brushes active again) & are ready to use!

Hint, hint! : Your brushes will also appear in the eraser tool pallet, so you can use your new brushes as a negative space creator as well! Bam, twice the use.
